SHAUNNA DEAL​
Born and raised amidst the energetic culture of St. Louis, Missouri, Shaunna Deal embodies the spirit of resilience, passion, and dedication. Her journey from a skilled cosmetologist to an esteemed educator has been marked by numerous accolades and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

In 2019, Shaunna was honored with the prestigious N.F. Cimaglia Educator of the Year Award, a testimonial to her exceptional contributions to raising the standards of beauty education. Co-sponsored by the American Association of Cosmetology Schools and Milady, this award recognizes educators who exhibit unparalleled dedication and excellence in shaping the future professionals of the industry.

Shaunna's commitment to creating an inclusive and empowering learning environment at Elaine Steven Beauty College in St. Louis sets her apart. With a focus on encouraging student involvement and instilling a sense of responsibility and professionalism, she has become a powerful inspiration for her students. Her mantra of focusing on possibilities rather than obstacles resonates deeply with her teaching philosophy.

Her journey to becoming an educator was not conventional. After honing her styling skills behind the chair for thirteen years with industry giants like Regis and Trade Secret, Shaunna felt a spark of desire for more. This led her to pursue teaching, a decision that would shape her career profoundly. Enrolling in Elaine Steven Beauty College marked a significant milestone for Shaunna, with her first day of Teacher Training coincidentally falling on December 12, 2012, a date imbued with symbolism and power for her.

As Shaunna dived into her Master Educator Course, her passion for teaching intensified. She embarked on a six-year journey of relentless pursuit, driven by her belief in her abilities and her dedication to her students' success. Her commitment bore fruit when her students clinched victory at the Premier Beauty Show competition in 2015, earning them a coveted spot on Global Beauty Master TV in Las Vegas.

Shaunna's grassroots philosophy revolves around adding value and giving back. Her daily self-assessment reflects her dedication to continuous improvement, a trait that has defined her journey from homelessness to success. Despite facing numerous challenges, including providing hospice care to her brother and raising five children as a single mother, Shaunna's resilience and optimism have remained unshakable.

In her current role as an Advance Master Educator at Elaine Steven Beauty College, Shaunna continues to inspire and empower her students. Through engaging material and high-impact teaching methods, she prepares them for success in a rapidly evolving industry. Her certifications, including the Milady Master Educator designation and Wella Master Color Expert, attest to her expertise and dedication to excellence.

Beyond the classroom, Shaunna's influence extends to the theater world, where she specializes in wigs at renowned venues like the Fox Theater and the Muny. Her appearances on Global Beauty Master TV and as a guest artist at the American Beauty Show have further solidified her reputation as a trailblazer in the beauty industry.
